Lake Starnberg

This weekend I had the chance to visit the lovely Starnberger See in Bavaria. The lake is known for being Germany's 5th freshwater lake, with a beautiful view of the mountains in the background. Despite the sun only slightly peeping through, the fog between the water and the mountains was really a beautiful sight. I'm sure in the summer days, the place would be heaving with bodies however it was nice to actually have the lake to ourselves this time. As we drove round the other side of the lake, and sat down to have some tea and cake on the pier admiring the scenery - I couldn't have asked for a more perfect and peaceful afternoon.  Later on, we visited the Andechs Abbey, the place of pilgrimage on a hill easts of the Ammersee. This place is rather known for it's brewery and flamboyant baroque church, where we pleasantly spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying the Andechs beer. A big thanks to Barbara for taking us around these lovely areas.
